SR-22 Insurance

In most states, if you fail to maintain auto insurance coverage, have multiple offenses on your record or have been convicted of DUI, you will need to fill out an SR-22 insurance certification form. An SR-22 probation period is typically three years, but in Tennessee it can be as long as five years. If you terminate your insurance at any point throughout the probationary period, your insurer is required to file an SR-26 form with the state certifying termination. At that point, the state will suspend your license until you reinstate insurance coverage. Once your probation period is over, you no longer need the SR-22 form on your insurance.
